Grant Recipients

In 2022, our first year as a fund, we were privileged to award grants to 15 Portland-area musicians/bands. The funds were used for a variety of post-production projects which helped get their music heard by a larger audience. See below for more.

The Holler Fund was truly a blessing for our Amazing Life album. My trio had made a beautiful recording for our own creative fulfillment, but we had no real means of releasing it in any way that would bring attention to the music. Then came the Holler Fund grant, which allowed us to have a high-profile album release concert at the venue of our choice, and to hire a top-tier jazz publicist to promote the album nationally and internationally. This notoriety has further created new opportunities for our trio, launching many future performance engagements.

Thanks to the generous support of the Holler Fund and the roll-out plan we developed to utilize the grant, we secured interest from Tender Loving Empire Records and have signed our first-ever record deal! We are so excited and grateful that the Holler Fund has opened doors for us and a full PR campaign by Noisy Ghost PR is now possible for this next album..

The Holler Fund grant was a huge game changer for our band. After nearly a decade of playing live and making a couple of albums, we never had the leftover cash to make a real video. We were grateful to get a Holler Fund grant and hired a director (Chris Headland) to film us in a fantastic local audio recording studio (Page St. Sound Lab). Hiring other creatives to pull this project together was HUGE for us. This sort of funding is so important and life changing for musicians like us. Not only does it help further our goals as performers, but it also expands our creativity and willingness to keep on making music.

The Holler Fun allowed Eyelids to hire radio promotion for the first time across the U.S.  This was extremely helpful while we were touring as we were also able to do interviews and promote upcoming shows.  Without The Holler Fund, we could not have pursued this and have the ability to try something new.  It's hard enough out there for touring bands; this was a welcome bit of relief.

Marketing and PR can be a make-or-break investment for musicians. Thanks to the generous support of the Holler Fund, I was able to secure the services of Waldmania PR. This partnership has led to an exciting opportunity to release my forthcoming album with 8 Pound Gorilla Records, a major label in the children's music industry. As a working musician and mom, it's a challenge to balance parenting with my career, but the Holler Fund has eased the burden by providing financial support and allowing me to focus on creating and sharing my music. This music-making mama is forever grateful!
